Overview

As employees are a company’s most valuable resource, employers seek to hire those with a deep understanding of people, policies, legal requirements, and career development. The objective of the human resource management certificate is to prepare students for entry-level jobs in human resources. Upon completion of the certificate, students will be prepared to certify as an associate professional in human resources (aPHR).

Career Opportunities

Upon completion of the certificate, students will be eligible for entry-level human resources positions such as human resources specialist or human resource generalist. It is strongly recommended that students apply and take the aPHR certification exam upon completion of the certificate to further enhance their employment opportunities.

Upon completion of the certificate, successful graduates will be able to:

  • Create policies to ensure compliance with relevant employment laws
  • Develop strategic workforce planning, recruiting, and retention initiatives
  • Design and evaluate compensation and benefit structures
  • Plan effective training, development, and performance management programs
  • Prepare to take the aPHR certification exam offered by the Human Resource Certification Institute (HRCI).
