Bookstore

The Ensign College bookstore (The Outpost) is located on the first floor on North Temple. 

The Outpost is a gathering place for students to purchase their textbooks and get information about their classes. Textbook information is also available in the student portal, and on our web site https://www.ensign.edu/bookstore.

In the Outpost, students will find various food, beverages, snacks, school supplies and student necessities to help them succeed at Ensign College. Students can gather, study, and eat while charging their laptops/phones in the lounge area of the Outpost.

Students may also find Ensign College merchandise to proudly support the school.

All Ensign College Students who are enrolled in classes are able to set up a meal plan account. Purchases of food, beverages and snacks at the Outpost and all purchases made at the Summit Grill will be discounted 10% and no sales tax will be charged. Building Use Policy

Individuals on campus are prohibited from bringing animals inside college facilities, except for service animals.

Cashiers Office Policies

Collections Policy

Students who do not pay the balance due in full may have their accounts sent to a collection agency if they are unwilling to set up a payment plan with the Cashier’s office and make regular payments. The College will charge students a collection fee of 25% (or more), depending on the charges from the collection agency. The additional 25% (or more) will become due the day the collection agency receives the account if payment has not been received by the College.

Reporting to Credit Bureaus

When uncollected balances are sent to the collection agency, they will also be reported to the credit bureaus, and this may impact the student’s credit score.

Course Content Charges

Some courses have course content charges. These charges are for required course-related materials delivered electronically through the Learning Management System (LMS). Course content charges are non-refundable unless the class is dropped by the Add/Drop Deadline.

Dropped Classes for Non-payment

In addition to late fees, students will be given until the 7th business day of the semester to contact the Cashier’s office on the 2nd floor of the College and make payment arrangements.  If the student fails to make payment arrangements by the end of the 7th business day, the student’s classes will be dropped.

Failure by the College to make contact with students during this process does not relieve them of their financial commitment.  Students who make payment arrangements with the Cashier’s office, but do not comply with the terms of their agreement, will be withdrawn from their classes.

Student health plan premiums must also be paid by the 7th business day of the semester or their classes will be dropped for non-payment.

Effect of Drop on International Students

To maintain your status as an F-1 student, you must enroll in a “full course of study” each semester except during official school breaks or a pre-approved exception from the International Student Office (ISO). Contact your DSO immediately if you drop or are dropped below 12 credits.

Nonpayment Policy

Tuition and health plan must be paid in full by the tuition and health plan payment deadline (see Academic Calendar for deadlines).  Failure to pay the full amount or arrange other financial support with the College will result in a late fee of $25 for balances less than $500 and $50 for balances greater than $500.  A late fee will not be assessed for students with a valid FAFSA on file with the school by the first day of the semester.

Reinstatement of Classes Dropped for Non-payment

The first time a student’s classes are dropped for non-payment they will be given 3 business days from the day classes were dropped to contact the Cashier’s office to make payment arrangements.  Students who make payment arrangements within the 3 days can have their classes reinstated by the Registrar’s Office.  After 5:00 pm on the 3rd business day, the student’s classes will not be reinstated.

The second-time students are withdrawn from their classes for non-payment during their academic career at the College their classes will no longer be eligible for reinstatement during the current semester unless the student submits an appeal and is approved.

Tuition Refund Policy

Tuition refunds will only be given as follows:

Classes dropped up to the 17th school day of the semester

Students can drop classes at any point up to the Add/Drop Deadline (school day 17) for a full refund.  NO REFUND will be given for individually withdrawn classes after the Add/Drop Deadline (school day 17) unless the student officially withdraws from Ensign College (see below).

Complete withdrawal from school 

When a student withdraws from all of their classes at Ensign College after the Drop for Non-Payment Deadline, a pro-rated refund can be given by request until the 8th week of the semester.  There will be NO REFUND given when a student withdraws from school after 8 weeks of the semester have elapsed.

Exceptions to the Tuition Refund Policy

Ensign College recognizes that there may be situations beyond a student's control where an exception to the above policy may be warranted.  The following exceptions will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis to determine whether the situation merits an exception

  • Death of the student;
  • Death of an immediate family member where continuing school is impractical
  • Medical condition requiring extended medical care where continuing school is impractical
  • Acceptance of a qualifying internship.

Course content charges and fees are not refundable.  All types of refunds are requested at the Cashier's Office.

When a prorated refund is issued for students who completely withdraw, the refunds will be based upon this table:

Honor Code Refund Policy

Refunds will not be issued to students who are suspended or expelled from the college due to honor code reasons.

Firearms and Weapons Policy

The College does not allow weapons on campus property, even when granted a civil permit to carry one. Weapons, defined as firearms or weapons, include any device that can expel a projectile, knives that are longer than 3 ¬Ĺ inches and/or is a multi-edge blade, explosives, or other items that in their intended use are capable of inflicting serious injury or damaging property. Facsimiles of firearms or dangerous and destructive weapons are also prohibited. Any replicas of weapons on campus property are also prohibited. Weapons that are illegally purchased, illegally owned, or illegally stored or against landlord policies are prohibited. Because these items pose a clear risk to the persons and property on the Ensign College campus, violation of this policy may result in immediate suspension (separation) or ban. Suspected violations of this policy should be reported immediately to campus security (dial 2-2771 from on-campus college phones or 801.240.2771). Failure to report suspected violations may result in expulsion from the College.

Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act ("Clery Act") The College makes available its annual security report (Campus Security Report and Federal Legal Disclosure Document) and information on completion or graduation rates.

Right of Access

Ensign College is a private institution. Therefore, all grounds, walkways, parking areas, and buildings owned by the College are private property. The College retains the right and legal authority to limit or otherwise restrict access to the campus for any reason it may deem appropriate. As an educational institution, Ensign College affirms its right to guard or protect employees, students, and guests from interferences that would disrupt any class, program, activity, event, or permitted function. This includes stalking or other conduct that is threatening or disruptive to students, employees, or guests on campus properties.

Service Animal Policy

Service animals are dogs who are trained to perform a specific task for their owner. Dogs whose sole function is to provide comfort or emotional support do not qualify as service animals. Students with questions about the use of a service animal are welcome to meet with the disability service office. Employees requiring the use of a service animal may contact the Human Resource office. 

  • Owners of service animals are solely responsible for any damage to persons or property caused by their animal. 
  • A service animal may be excluded from college property if they exhibit unacceptable behavior or pose a direct threat to the health or safety of others. 
  • Animals are to be under the control of a handler at all times.

Summit Grill

Summit Grill is located outside of the Ensign College building but is still located on the Triad Center block, between the KSL building and the Devereaux Mansion.  We are just a quick three minute walk away.

You can place and pay for your order at www.thesummitgrill.com.  We offer a wide variety of burgers, sandwiches, salads, and Pizza Hut 9” pizzas.  Summit Grill is open Monday – Friday. We also deliver your online orders to the Outpost bookstore at various times throughout the day.

Summit Grill employs Ensign College students exclusively, so supporting Summit Grill also supports our hard-working students.

Username and Password Protection

Students should never share their Ensign College username and password with any other person or business. Providing this information to others could potentially compromise the College’s systems as well as student personal information (e.g. social security number, finances, grades). Because providing this information to other people or businesses puts Ensign College at risk, individuals who do so could face dismissal from the College.

Waiver of Risk

Some courses at the College require travel or may involve risk. Enrollment in such courses is voluntary, and students should not take these courses unless they are prepared to assume the risk involved. By choosing to participate, students voluntarily agree not to hold Ensign College or its faculty and staff liable. Ensign College also disclaims liability of any kind for injury or illness of students as a result of participation in student activities connected with the College. The College makes every reasonable effort to provide safe conditions for all courses and student activities.
