MCO 190 Introduction to Medical Reimbursement

Introduces students to the Revenue Cycle and how it affects the payment of services involved in the medical industry, including types of insurance plans, patient billing, payments, denials, and collections. The students will be asked to apply these principles in preparation for employment in a billing, coding, or clinical office setting. Additionally, students will receive help and guidance in preparing a resume and interviewing skills in preparation for a medical billing/coding position. Topics include: Law and ethics, HIPAA, medical billing and reimbursement (CMS 1500 form), patient chart documentation, and communication skills (verbal & written)
