The course introduces lodging in its essential role within travel and tourism while exploring the various types of lodging businesses such as hotels, resorts, hostels, vacation rentals, bed and breakfasts, timeshares, and alternative accommodation types. Students learn about the primary functions and departments within a lodging operation such as executive management, sales and marketing, revenue management, guest services and front desk, rooms and housekeeping, engineering and maintenance, food and beverage, and human resources. The course emphasizes monitoring, measuring, and analyzing various lodging performance metrics as important tools for guest experience optimization and operational success.
