Overview
This certificate is designed for someone with a solid foundation of IT and technology infrastructure and stretch them into a higher level of network management. Students who complete this certificate will learn how to configure Routers and Switches and will have the information needed to pass the Cisco CCNA certification exams.
In addition to more advanced networking skills, this certificate will introduce network monitoring and network security through some intermediate cybersecurity courses. Students will gain experience analyzing network traffic using common network analyzing tools and learning how cybersecurity plays a role in network administration.

This certificate prepares students for entry-level job in network administration roles.

- Upon completion of the certificate, successful graduates will be able to:
- Demonstrate how to install and configure key network devices.
- Demonstrate multiple ways hackers break into network systems.
- Demonstrate how to identify and correctly document a cyber-incident.
- Prepare students to take industry certification exams.
- Demonstrate proficiency through experiential learning and projects.
Course Requirements
Courses in this certificate presume some previous IT coursework or industry experience with networking and IT Fundamentals. Industry certifications, or previous work experience, may waive pre-requisite requirements, but approval from the Department Chair would be necessary prior to enrollment.

Graduation Requirements
- Minimum of 24 total semester credit hours as outlined
- Grade of C or higher in all core courses
- Cumulative grade point average of 2.0 or higher
The following certifications can be obtained at the completion of the corresponding course (assuming final exam scores meet the established requirements).
- Switching Pro: TestOut’s certification of proficiency in Cisco Switch Technology (similar to ICND1)
- Routing Pro: TestOut’s certification of proficiency in Cisco Routing Technology (similar to ICND2)
Students who successfully complete this certificate will have the knowledge to sit for the following industry exams after completing these courses. These exams are not required to pass the course and there is an additional charge to sit for the exam.
